The Art of Character Transformation

Both new and experienced actors benefit from learning how to fully embody a character and experience authentic emotions on stage or screen.

In this class, we focus on:

• Understanding emotional recall and substitution.
• Techniques for breaking down a script to uncover a character's motivations.
• Exercises in empathy to connect with complex roles.

Hands-On Activities:

• Pair actors to perform scenes with contrasting emotional arcs.
• Practice monologues with emotional transitions.

Writing and Directing for the Stage and Screen

Actors who understand writing and directing are better collaborators and often create their own opportunities in the industry.

In this class, we focus on:

• Basics of script structure and storytelling for short films and plays.
• Rehearsing, blocking and directing actors for film effectively.
• Pitching ideas and crafting compelling loglines.

Hands-on Activities:

• Participants collaborate to write a short scene, then direct and act in it.
• Storyboarding a simple scene to explore visual storytelling.
